Original paintings
by Helen Wilson

My artistic journey began in early childhood, deeply rooted in a creative environment fostered by my parents. Today, my work lives at the intersection of narrative and realism, focusing on subjects that bring a sense of profound calm to my process — including botanicals, landscapes, birds, big cats, horses, barnyard animals, and the quiet nostalgia of teapots and teacups.

Working across oils, acrylics, and watercolors, I build my compositions on primed canvases, often integrating found objects, rich patterns, and distinct textures to complete each piece.

At its core, my art is about storytelling and timeless beauty. Rather than hiding cryptic messages or obscure views within my work, I choose to capture the straightforward, striking beauty of the world and its people.

My creative process heavily relies on small, focused studies of the subjects I love, which I scale into larger narrative works designed to document historical events, illustrate shared experiences, or communicate deep cultural, personal, and religious themes.

Art is my medium for translating complex human emotions into a tangible form. Through my paintings, I seek to externalize feelings.
